Lot Essay

This pair of vases once formed part of the Dresden 'Japanese Palace' collection of Augustus the Strong of Saxony. His enormous collection was categorized between 1721 - 1733 in subjectmatters. The Japanese pieces were marked by an additional cross after the number. It appears that porcelain left the collection in the late 18th and 19th Centuries, and three sales were held in the early part of this century.
