Broadsheet 2° (570 x 455). Text in English and French. Typographic title printed on thick paper. 26 hand-coloured lithographic plates highlighted with gum arabic mounted on card. (Lacking the dedication leaf, light spotting to title continuing onto first few text leaves, 3 plates with very light minor spotting, 2 plates with very light cockling, 1 plate with heavier spotting and light cockling.) Text in original cloth-backed printed wrappers (gutta percha perished), the whole contained in original publisher's purple morocco-backed portfolio with morocco gilt cartouche to upper cover (extremities lightly rubbed, covers very lightly soiled).
DE LUXE ISSUE IN FINE ORIGINAL STATE. 'Issued in 3 forms. Plain, coloured and mounted on thick cards. The last form which may be called the de luxe edition is the rarest and finest. Boys himself is said to have coloured six of them. They were issued in a Roxburghe portfolio with a leather title piece on the side, with accompanying text in wrappers.
