2 volumes, 4° (266 x 210mm). With half-titles, erratum slip, and leaf of ads in vol. II. 3 engraved maps, 2 of these folding, and 23 engraved and lithographic plates. (Some spotting, offsetting on folding maps, a very few marginal tears with neat, old repairs.) Contemporary diced russia, marbled edges (light wear).

FIRST EDITION OF BEECHEY'S FAMOUS VOYAGE, relating visits to Pitcairn Island, the Tuamotus, Tahiti, Alaska, and the coasts of China and California, with an important account of Monterey and San Francisco. In the Arctic Beechey charted the coastline from Cape Prince of Wales to Point Barrow, and on Pitcairn Island he interviewed John Adams, last surviving mutineer of the Bounty.
