[central Italy, second half 12th century]68 x 62mm. With 8 lines of text on verso in a well-spaced late caroline script (silver tarnished, traces of mount on verso). The initial probably opened 'Cum Domino' found in Sermon LXXI; the text on the verso comes from a discussion of Matthew 12:22-26, dealing with the driving out of demons. Stylistic features of the figures and decoration point to central Italy, perhaps Tuscany.
