ARMORIAL GENEALOGY OF THE NEVILLE EARLS OF WESTMORLAND, in English, DECORATED MANUSCRIPT ON VELLUM, [England, 16th century]
775 x 635mm approx. maximum. The central membrane from a very large family tree, lacking membranes at all sides, running from John, 3rd Lord Neville, d.1388, with the grandest armorial display for his son, Ralph, 1st Earl of Westmorland, one of the four figures depicted in roundels. His descendants continued to the left and below, with the Greystoke and de Coucy arms from the lines of collaterals and spouses; further royal connections stemming from his second wife, a daughter of John of Gaunt, extended to the right and below. This section includes some granchildren, while cutting the shield of his son, Richard, earl of Salisbury, d.1460 (wear to some text and some shields, some text relettered in late 17th century). Framed.
