Original orange printed wrappers, uncut, later cloth case. Provenance: Maggie C. Culin (contemporary signature on nos. 37 and 39) -- William E. Self (his sale, Christie's New York, 2 April 2008, lot 180).
FIRST AMERICAN PRINTING of this charming four-part story, published simultaneously in All the Year Round. Each part was written from the perspective of a different child, pretending to be a grown up. Sold with the 1912 Frederick Warne edition of one part (The Magic Fishbone), illustrated by F.D. Bedford. Eckel p. 200; Gimbel E154 & B301; Kitton Minor Writings pp. 93-95. (5)
