a tibetan thangka depicting a 'brug.pa lama

The lama is seated on a lotus, placed on an elaborate throne, both hands in dharmacakramudra, wearing various cloaks, partly painted with gold coloured dragons and scrolling flowers, his face with meditative expression, beard, typical cap, behind a blue and partly raised gold painted aureol, front of throne with a pair of roaring lions, the backside made up of a pair of lions, supporting lions and two mythological animals with a pair of figures who are supporting the horizontal beams of the backslab, supporting a pair of makaras, the arch consisting of partly raised gold painted scrolling vines, with the khyung-bird at the apex holding the tail of the nagarajas, Vajradhara above, flanked by two other lamas, a pair of monks below holding cakra and book, in mountainous landscape
