(Some light browning, occasional small stain, small marginal hole in two leaves, Geiler Sermones lacking 2 leaves.) 16th-century German half blind-rolled pigskin over wooden boards, contents written on fore-edges, (clasps defective, endpaper renewed). Provenance: Franciscus Antonius Recordia of ?Haperg, gift inscription from his father Christophorus dated 1678 (partly washed from title-page).
FIRST EDITION of the Trithemius, Geiler and Lindholz works, and rare German edition of Andreae's important work on consanguinity, printed at the first press at Oppenheim. Trithemius, abbot of Sponheim (and later Würzburg), was the author of the first printed bibliography. In his sermons printed here he makes reference to rebuilding the library at Sponheim and the invention of printing at Mainz.
