Original black cloth, printed paper labels, fore-edges uncut, without the very rare dust-jacket (the spine label slightly darkened and with light wear, edges lightly browned). Provenance: Christine du Boisrouvray (inscription from the author).
FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY HEMINGWAY: 'A Cricri du Boisrouvray hommage a l'Americaine from her friend Ernest Hemingway Gstaad Hiver 1927'. Cricri is said to have been a model. Hemingway had also skied in Gstaad the year before, when he met Harry Crosby of the Black Sun Press. The second issue, with the word 'stopped' spelled correctly on p. 181.
