Lot Essay

The tables tripodic bronze frame, conceived in a poetic Pompeian fashion, evokes triumphs at love's altar in antiquity. Its granite top, Pan reeded and Venus pearled, is supported by caryatic sphinx monopodia, whose flower-festooned and poetic laurel-wreathed pillars are tied by sunflowered ribbons.
