With heavy twist octagonal sighted barrel, engraved patent percussion breech with platinum line, platinum plug and platinum-lined maker's stamp, engraved breech tang, signed engraved bolted lock, the hammer with detachable striker (the striker incomplete, its retaining screw broken), figured walnut half-stock, engraved blued steel mounts, horn fore-end cap, original ramrod, silver escutcheon, and traces of original finish, the barrel forged by Charles Lancaster
