The description of the funeral obsequies for MARIA AMALIA CHRISTINA of Saxony (1724-1760), wife of Charles III of Spain, Queen Consort of Spain and Naples. Following the description of the proceedings are poems written in her honor, including verse in Latin, Castilian, Catalan, Basque, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Hungarian, English and two Indian languages, Quecha and Moxa. Cuenca, the author, was born in Lima in 1712 and became a member of the Society of Jesus. He served for two years at the mission at Moxos. AUGUSTIN DE GORRICHATEGUI, who preached the funeral oration, was a native of Panama; he served at Lambayeque, Paita and the Cathedral of Lima. The catafalque was designed by BEXARANO and engraved by CAMACHO. Medina says it is signed and dated Lima, 1760. Since he gives the same measurement for the height (50 cm) as here, it is assumed this is a different issue or state, since here it is unsigned and undated. Medina Lima 1172; Palau 65888.
