A narrative describing the celebration surrounding the marriage of CHARLES VII, King of Naples and Sicily, later King of Spain, to MARIA AMALIA of Saxony (1724-1760) in July 1738. The two were married by proxy in Dresden, home of the 14-year old Maria, who then traveled through Italy to meet her husband for the first time in Naples and attend her wedding celebration. The plates illustrate the numerous porticoes, obelisks, and fountains erected in the couple's honor. Watanabe 612.
