Mongitore describes the Act of Faith celebrated in Palermo in honor of CHARLES VI (1685-1740), Holy Roman Emperor and King of Sicily, on 6 April 1724. The Act of Faith was organized by the Tribunal of the Saint Inquisition of the Kingdom of Sicily from time to time. The four large plates depict the place of the theater with the boxes for the authorities and the place where the convict was to be burnt; two long processionals; and the Act of Faith in full development, with Suor Geltruda and Fra Romualdo burning inside a palisade with people assembled for the performance.
