One page of letterpress text with ornamental initial, engraved portrait frontispiece, engraved title with vignette within ornamental border, engraved calligraphic dedication by Bibiena and portrait frontispiece of the dedicatee by ANDREAS and JOSEF SCHMUZER after MARTIN DE MEYTENS, 50 engraved plates, numbered 1-10 in each part, by A. and J. SCHMUZER, J.A. PFEFFEL, L. ZUCCHI and S. KLEINER after Bibiena (repaired marginal tear to title and final 10 plates, some occasional pale spotting and soiling). Late 18th/early 19th-century half vellum, marbled boards (some splitting to joints, inner hinges reinforced, a few stains).
The plates "show brilliant baroque compositions" (Fowler) of catafalques, theatrical sets, a Passion series in architectural settings and decorations for the Riding School at Vienna for the marriage of Archduchess MARIANA to Prince CHARLES of Lorraine.
