The domed lid surmounted by a pointed finial, carved with the "Birth of Venus" above a spreading border, carved with cabochons and ribbon tied vine above a gadrooned rim and spreading foliate chased rim, the oval cup surmounted by a ring turned everted rim with scrolling acanthus, above satanic masks and extensive Bachic scenes, flanked to either side by scrolling lapeted handles, surmounted by Bachic busts above a waisted gadrooned border, above a spreading base carved with trefoil cartouches within scrolling strapwork and flanked by meandering cone, on a spreading foot chased with busts and palmette
