On spreading base decorated with openworked floral band, sunken centre, further openworked stem, plain vase-shaped moulded body with realistic swan spout, two foliate hinged hanging handles, the raised cover with moulded scroll cover

Lot Essay

An almost identical, earlier coffee-urn by Jesayas Engouw, The Hague, 1720 is preserved in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Another one chased with gadrooned and ornamented bands by Andele Andeles, Leeuwarden, 1729 is in the same collection. see illustration
