A rare and early Dutch silver horn mount
Apparently unmarked, possibly Friesland, dated 1578
The spreading mount with moulded and laurel rim, above a finely engraved hunting scene with horsemen, deers, hounds, houses, trees and a hunter with a spear, and a later coat-of-arms hanging from a branch and dated 1578 between two trees
4.7 cm. (1.4 in.) high and 7 cm. (3 in.) diameter
unmarked apart from a later Dutch duty mark
108 gr.

Cf. J.W. Frederiks, Dutch Silver, The Hague, 1958, part III, no. 351, page 119 with illustration shows similarity in shape but not in the scene, this horn mount is dated 1571 and in the collection of the Frisian Museum in Leeuwarden.
