Each of ovoid form with waisted neck flanked by scrolled handles with Venus figural clasps, finely painted all-over with flowers, butterflies and nets, on a spreading socle and square canted base

Lot Essay

See Christie's, New York, 11 April 2007, lot 247 for a smaller and later pair of Sèvres 'crystalline' ground vases of identical shape and with the same figure-mounted handles.

Henri Léon Pallandre is recorded at Sèvres as a painter of flowers (1853 - 1870).
