FIRST EDITION IN FRENCH, translated by Jean des Moulins and following the first edition in Latin published in 1586-1587. Daléchamps was a French physician, botanist, and humanist who studied under Rondelet at Montpellier. Although criticized for its inaccuracies by the Swiss botanist Gaspard Bauhin, Daléchamps' work is "regarded as one of the most complete botanical compilations of its time and is supposed to be the first to describe much of the unique botany of the region around Lyons" (Johnston/Cleveland Collections 129 (first edition)).
