Provenance: Obscured contemporary ownership inscription on title-page and one or two scholarly annotations in the Rariorum; J.H.J. Van de Laar, physician (signatures on front paste-down and each engraved title-page).
FIRST EDITION of the first volume of the collected works of L'Ecluse (Rariorum Plantarum) with preliminary leaves closely conforming to the Arents copy which is also lacking the letterpress title-page and *1 and with the original "Privilegium" (a cancel in the Hunt copy). Containing the first edition of the "Fungorum historia," the first published monograph on fungi. Without the Altera Appendix. Bound with the FIRST FOLIO EDITION of Curae Posteriores, L'Ecluse's last work and published posthumously, was also printed in the same year in quarto with a letterpress title-page. It contains additions and corrections to his former works.
