2o (465 x 302 mm). 48 engraved plates (47 with contemporary hand coloring as issued) by and after H. Schwegman and P. van Loo. Original sheets, uncut and unbound, housed in an early 19th-century blue paper-board portfolio (lacking ties).
FIRST EDITION, published in 4 installments. A beautiful work in it's original uncut, unbound state. The text is in Latin, Dutch, French and German. "Holland produced several magnificently illustrated works, of which Schneevoogt's Icones Plantarum Rariorum..., with plates after paintings by P. van Loo and Hendrik Schwegman, is the finest. Its plates record new and rare plants cultivated in Holland, many of which were grown in the celebrated Voorhelm and Schneevoogt nursery
