Lot Essay

Ce modèle de putto en ivoire existe dans plusieurs versions. Malgré les différences mineures dans le traitement du drapé, la chevelure et le style de la base, cet ivoire se rapproche de l'exemple attribué à Artus I Quellin (voir Marion Boudon-Machuel, François du Quesnoy (1597-1643), Paris, 2005, pp.297-9). Artus I Quellin a connu Duquesnoy dans les années 1630 à Rome et s'inspira de celui-ci tout au long de sa carrière.
