XIXe siècle, République Démocratique du Congo
Le manche cylindrique avec une tête à une extrémité, la coiffure composée d'un bandeau et d'un chignon en tresses formant une croix, l'autre extrémité avec un panneau ovale retenant la lame gravée de motifs géométriques. Patine sombre et brillante.
Longueur: 42 cm. (16½ in.)

Provenance

Julius Lütze (1874-1940), Stockholm, Suède, quartier-maître à bord de bateaux navigant vers l'Afrique vers 1900 et par descendance à sa petite fille.

Voir Luba Hemba werke unbekannter Meister Sculptures by unknown artists, Frankfurt, 1983, pp.80-81, figs.55 et 56 pour une herminette très similaire dans le Museum für Völkerkunde, Frankfurt, rapportée par Friedrich Wimhelm Göring et vendu au musée en 1912.
