Recouverte de volutes, ornée de têtes et de personnages tiki, avec incrustation de coquillages. Patine sombre et brillante.
Longueur: 49.5 cm. (19½ in.)

Provenance

Acquise durant la seconde guerre mondiale par un soldat américain en poste en Australie, Nouvelle Guinée, Nouvelle Zélande et aux Iles Fidji. Par descendance au propriétaire actuel.

Voir Neich, R., Carved Histories, Auckland, 2001, pp.59 et 239, fig.15.19 pour des pagaies et des bols couverts similaires attribués au même artiste. Anaha Te Rahui était un chef et un sculpteur Maori réputé. Charles Goldie peignit son portrait en 1908.
