Lot Essay

The vendor of this lot, Richard Cole, was the tour manager for Led Zeppelin between 1968-1980 and used Jerry Weintraub, the same concert promoter as Elvis. When Elvis played at the Los Angeles Forum on 11 May, 1974 Cole, his then wife Marilyn, and Led Zeppelin attended the concert. As they went through the tunnel to the Hyatt House Hotel where Elvis was staying, they were fortunate enough to meet him which is when this signature was obtained. Cole and Elvis became friends from this point until Elvis' untimely death in 1977.
