Lot Essay

The acetate is possibly the only known surviving one of the Beatles' first single release. The acetate is Ringo Starr's recording of the song, from the 4th September 1962, subsequently used on the initial releases of the single but not on the debut UK album, Please Please Me. A John Lennon count-in can be heard at the beginning and there is no tambourine sound.
