Lot Essay

Although not connected to any known composition by the artist, this drawing appears characteristic of Furini's graphic work and is especially close to a study now in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford for The Wise and Foolish Virgins (Monbeig Goguel, op. cit., p. 78, fig. 19).
