Lot Essay

'Valkyrie II' and 'Valkyrie III', owned by Windham Thomas Wyndham-Quin, 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl (d. 1926) were unsuccessful British challengers of the 8th and 9th America's Cup in 1893 and 1895 against the American yachts 'Vigilant' and 'Defender'.
