A chaise longue, en suite dated 'Oct 1812' and signed by Richard Slater (d.1833) was also sold from Fasque, Bonhams house sale, 27 September 1997, lot 58.
A further chaise longue from the same suite (the pair to the above) dated '1st October 1812' and signed by Richard Slater was sold Fasque, The Seat of the Galdstones, Christie's King Street, 7 May 2008, lot 118.
Richard Slater of Lancaster, is recorded as working for Gillows from 1785 to 1827. At the time of his death it was said that he had been an employee of Gillows 'where he worked at one bench upward of 50 years' (The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, p.821).
