Lot Essay

Please see lot 370 which has a similar base and would have almost certainly been supplied by the same maker.
This table has lyre-scrolled trestles wreathed in Roman acanthus in the George IV Louis Quatorze fashion. A pattern for a related table, intended to serve as parlour breakfast-table sofa-table is illustrated in R. Ackermanns 1809 Repository of Arts.
