Lot Essay

A preparatory study for the left-hand figure in Charity and Truth, one of the frescoes from a cycle of Scenes from the Life of the Virgin, executed by Cesi circa 1584 in S. Maria dei Bulgari, Bologna. The cycle was destroyed during the Second World War.
