Lot Essay

The present engraving is a fragment of one engraving from a pair by Mantegna. Perhaps the greatest professional achievement of the late Joan Griffith was her work restoring Andrea Mantegna's Triumphs of Caesar in the Royal Collection, to which she devoted some twelve years of her career.
