Lot Essay

These gueridons are closely related to an Empire gueridon executed by Georges Jacob after a design by Charles Percier, which M. Robiquet records as having been in the latter's collection and '(...) exécuté d'après ses donnés les plus directes (M. Robiquet, La Renaissance de l'Art Français et des Industries de Luxe No. 3, March, 1923, p.132). Percier's gueridon was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 7 December 1996, lot 88 (£65,000 with premium).
