Born in Pusan, Choi graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Versailles in 1994. He had one-person exhibitions at the Gallery Sooro, Pusan, in 1979; the Gallery Muehei, Budapest, in 1993; the Gallery Saint-Charles Rose, Paris, in 1996; the Gallery 220, New York, in 2000; Gallery Kita, Nara, in 2004; and the Gallery Jean Art, Seoul, in 2005. He participated in numerous group exhibitions in Korea, the United States, Japan and Europe from 1986 to 2007.
