I would like to start by expressing my gratitude for the wonderful career that I have had so far. Working on stage, working for television, it has been so varied, it has given me a great satisfaction.
But the aspect that makes it all worthwhile is the people you get to know on your way, and there are hundreds of them. I had the honour to work with some of the greatest performers of our country, with the most gifted musicians, the most talented designers. And in a way, this auction is a small tribute to one of them: Jan Aarntzen, the man who designed all my costumes and the scenery for all the shows I have done in the past eight years. And I can honestly say that we have certainly done everything that we ever wanted to do, culminating in the ultimate creation; a dress that covered the whole stage of theatre 'Carré' in the show "La on Tour" in 1996.
In this way I would like to compliment Jan on his loyalty, his fine taste, his never ending enthusiam. For me, he simply is the best.
We all know that life goes on and I have made a few decisions that will change the course of my carreer. Being a theatre performer, this implies that I want to change my image, my 'looks'. And so the obvious question arose: what are we going to do with these wonderful dresses? They represent eight happy years of my life and leaving them slowly turning into dust in my wardrobe was a thought I did not like at all. This time it was Christie's who came on stage and they were very enthusiastic about the idea of selling my collection of dresses
So here they are. They are special to me because each and every one of them has its own song, its own story. They are part of my life.
I wish the next owner as much happiness from them as I have had!
