A BRONZE RITUAL FOOD VESSEL AND COVER, DOU
EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, SPRING AND AUTUMN PERIOD, 6TH CENTURY BC
The bowl with a pair of ring handles and the cover with circular crown similarly cast with a band of lozenge pattern enclosing angular scrolls and dots repeated in lappets that are pendent from the band on the bowl and upright from the band on the cover, raised on a tall pedestal foot cast at the bottom with four decorative bands and at the top with a zigzag band above pendent blades filled with confronted dragons, the crown with decoration similar to that on the foot, with mottled grey and milky green patina and areas of malachite and azurite encrustation
