A RARE BRONZE RITUAL GLOBULAR TRIPOD FOOD VESSEL AND COVER, DUI
EASTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, LATE SPRING AND AUTUMN PERIOD, LATE 6TH CENTURY BC
The hemispherical body raised on three ring supports with projecting hooked tab cast on the sides with tapering scrolls which are repeated on the cover, with a pair of faceted ring handles just below the rim, and cast in intaglio around the sides with four feline-like animals, with three similar animals cast on the cover between the rings and below a central medallion with whorl-motif center encircled by a 'ropetwist' border and eight heart-shaped spokes, with mottled light green and grey patina and areas of malachite green encrustation
