A SMALL OLIVE-GREEN JADE CICADA-FORM PENDANT
SHANG DYNASTY, CIRCA 1200 BC
The convex side carved in linear relief with the details of the cicada's head, wings and legs which follow the shape of the notched edges, pierced through the pointed nose, the concave reverse plain, with some brown alteration in the semi-translucent stone; together with a small semi-translucent olive-green applique, late Eastern Zhou dynasty, with notched edges, one side finely incised in double line with scrolls and eyes implying humanoid and dragon heads, the plain reverse pierced at each end with three bullnose holes that exit the ends, and inscribed with a two-character inscription, with some brown alteration in the stone
