A Valencia Manises hispano moresque lustre charger
Late 15th or early 16th Century
With red lustre body, the central domed boss decorated with a shield enclosing a rooster (con un gallo) surrounded by a band of dots enclosing stars, further with a band of elongated forks and with a running band of dotted flowerheads and bands en suite, the border with a scale-patterned band with oblique incisions in slight relief, the reverse with kick-in base decorated with zigzag motifs and with trailing foliage (pierced with two holes for hanging, some chips)
