A FINE AND RARE RED OVERLAY WHITE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
LI JUNTING SCHOOL, ATTRIBUTED TO YANGZHOU, 1810-1850
Of compressed rounded form, the body of white glass with red glass overlays on both sides, one side carved with a boy shown toting a sheathed sword and seated astride a carp, amidst two bats in flight and a three-legged toad below, a four-character inscription in seal script to one side, the reverse with two fluttering butterflies and two young boys, one of whom has fallen to the ground while the other carries a chrysanthemum spray, all above a scene of a cat prowling amidst ornamental rockwork and grasses, coral stopper
