A RARE LARGE CLOISONNE ENAMEL FIGURE OF AN EQUESTRIAN
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
The bearded official wearing a jacket and robe and a conical hat with pendent feather plume shown seated on a striding horse with head turned towards the left, the rider's hands holding long gilt-metal reins, the saddle with gilt-metal trappings hung with two tassels on the chest and other straps crossed over the rump and continuing under the tail, with movable striped fringe at the bottom of the saddle blanket

Compare what is most likely the pair to the present figure, from the collection of the Albany Institute of History and Art, included in the catalogue for the traveling exhibition, Far Eastern Art in Upstate New York, Cornell University, 1971, p. 55, no. 67, where it was dated Qianlong period (Fig. 1).
