A PAIR OF LARGE CLOISONNE ENAMEL FIGURES OF COCKERELS
Each shown crowing while standing on a rockwork base decorated around the sides with mountains rising from waves and with dragons pursuing a flaming pearl amidst clouds, the top with a pine tree trunk, water and clouds, the body of each bird with archaistic bird motifs on a turquoise ground while the wings and tail have multicolored feathers, the heads and bodies made separately

A nearly identical pair of equally large cloisonné enamel cockerels from the Collection of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé was sold in our Paris rooms, 23-25 February 2009, lot 674.
