The porcelain plaque painted in underglaze blue with a border of archaistic scroll and foliate scroll spandrels framing two shaped recessed panels left in the biscuit and carved in high relief leaving the decoration reserved in white against a black ground, one of fan shape with a pair of birds amidst chrysanthemum, the other of quatrefoil shape with a pair of ducks swimming below a flowering peach branch, the frame carved in operwork with double-gourd vine
21½ x 16½ in. (54.6 x 42 cm.) framed
