With shallow rounded sides, the interior molded with a medallion of two writhing dragons encircled by a wide band of lotus and peony scroll, all below a narrow band of cloud scrolls, covered inside and out with a glaze of ivory tone continuing over the ring foot and base, and pooling on the exterior in olive-toned tears, with copper rim mount, the base inscribed Shang Shi Ju

The inscription, Shang Shi Ju, appears on other vessels used in conjunction with food preparation in the palace during the Northern Song and Jin dynasties.
