An Augustus-Rex-type Meissen porcelain gilt polychome oval ajour tureen and cover
Circa 1880, marked with large underglaze blue swords with dotted hilts above Pressmarken B 136 above 181
Inspired by J.J. Kaendler, the heavily gilt quadrupod bulging body decorated in the Augustus the Strong,Baroque style, after a silver model, decorated with rocaille cartouches depicting commercial scenes (Kauffahrteiszenen), further with panels of pierced scrollwork alternating with Goldspitzen, with flower-encrusted garlands and on scroll feet, the border adorned with four putti and two handles modelled as female heads, the inside gilt allover, further with a bulging domed cover en suite with tiny elongated Purpurmalerei landscape vignettes, further with two tiny shields depicting hunting scenes and two royal armorial cartouches, surmounted by a royal crown finial flanked by two angels, the reverse with Indianische Blumen
