Decorated overall with gadrooned mouldings, the hinged slope enclosing a fitted interior with three drawers and three open compartments, above a long drawer, with carrying handles to the sides

Christie’s charges a premium to the buyer on the Hammer Price of each lot sold at the following rates: 29.75% of the Hammer Price of each lot up to and including €20,000, plus 23.8% of the Hammer Price between €20,001 and €800.000, plus 14.28% of any amount in excess of €800.000. The base of the miniature bureau bookcase in the Rijksmuseum (see note to the previous lot) bears a striking resemblence to the present box. It is likely that the Rijksmuseum bookcase, lot 190 and the present lot were executed in the same Chinese workshop in Batavia.
