A Chinese twelve-fold coromandel lacquer screen

Carved through the dark brown lacquer ground and painted in a multitude of colours with phoenix, herons, peacocks, pheasants and smaller exotic birds and ducks among a luscious vegetation of flowering lotus, magnolia, plum blossom, peony, hydrangea, flanked to the sides with 'The Hundred Antiquities', the bottom and top bordered by panels of flowering fruit and plants between narrow bands of stylized lotus scroll, some damages and restoration
