Of rectangular form on ivory ground, the field with a contorted flowering plant with turquiose leaves and several large peonies, chrysanthemums and tulips, two exotic birds, the borders with meandering branches enclosing various flowers

Palampores were used as bedcovers or bedhead hangings and were made in India in Masulipatam, port of Golconda, and at Pulicat. Palampores were also exported through Vizagapatam and Madras, under the control of the English East India Company.
The ancestors of The Count Trolle Bonde served in the Swedish East India Company in the 1780s and are thought to have acquired this palampore at the port of Surat in Gujarat.
