Lot Essay

Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar (1831-1896) was the third longest reigning monarch in Persian history. He was the first Persian monarch to be made a Knight of the Order of the Garter, an honour bestowed upon him by Queen Victoria during his visit to the United Kingdom in 1873.
